Recently had a commission to draw a caricature of a cute little bub to be used as a tattoo design. I'm very careful with this kind of work because it's very important when the child gets older for her to be comfortable with her image. That's why she's done so gently (actually, she's so amazingly cute that she could only ever turn out beautiful!)
Digital. Traditional. Black and white. Colour. Here are some of the options I can create for that perfect gift.
About every five years or so I draw a live caricature that I really don't want to give to the sitter. I want to keep it for myself. One of these is that caricature. can you guess which one?
Been a very busy time creating commissions for folk from almost every state and territory in Australia. I've been making a lifestyle out of insomnia but we got them all done and on time!
I'm not very good at drawing masks so it's great to see faces again! Here are some from the Balaklava race Day and Adelaide Uni's Roller-Palooza.
Corey's rendering of Misiki, one of his fantasy characters, November 2020.And here's the same character, July 2021. Great progress Corey! I am proud to be your teacher.June has been a busy month. Here's a few commissions. There's full colour, B&W's, digital and traditional pieces. All made as unique gift pieces from photos and bio sent by people from all over Australia.
Great day at Novotel Barossa Valley drawing delegates at the Audiology Australia 2021 conference.
Spent ten hours over the month at John Doe's Bar on Gilbert Street drawing the regulars. Lots of fun. Now there's a gallery of dozens of them across the walls there. Go check them out sometime. Tell Corey that I sent you.
You've heard of FIFO mining workers. I'm a FIFO caricaturist!
This animation was done by one of my one-on-one Art students. Corey is a great chap who loves animation. I taught him how to animate digitally using Sketchbook Pro and he applied what he learnt to this piece featuring Albert, one of Corey's characters. I am a very proud teacher!
Been a busy time creating custom caricature gift pieces for all sorts of people with all sorts of reasons. Commissioned caricatures are such an excellent gift because they are hand crafted one – of’s and highly personalised. And I love creating them!
It's been great to be able to draw special gift caricatures for people all around Australia (and two in the UK). I aim to capture a likeness without causing any embarrassment for the subject - it's important that they are comfortable with having a giggle about themselves. As you can see, each piece is unique and designed to look good displayed in a home. I love what I do!
It's not just the Indian cricket team that was in Adelaide - had a great time drawing the staff at TSA Adelaide's Christmas Function. (And no, that isn't Virat Kohli in the slideshow - it's his doppelganger).

Tommy Lee Jones. I'm open to any other celebs you think need to be shown with their caricatures. Any suggestions?
Just a few of the celebs who have realized that their lives were bleak, gray, meaningless and without direction without a Paul's Caricature.
What a pleasure to be asked to draw at Kylie and Adam's wedding reception.
Been having a lot of fun creating commissioned gift caricatures for all sorts of people and all sorts of reasons. Commissioned caricatures are unique as there's not another quite like it in the world. They capture a moment which is so personal and personalised. It's a great honour to be asked to create one and to be trusted to make the piece they are hoping for.
Paula and Nigel's wedding reception at the Lakes Resort Hotel was so much fun to draw at. Plus - dancing after midnight!
Vila and Bich's wedding reception at Ayer's House brilliantly photographed by Jason Wong Photography. Great times.
